Over 500 visitors attended the Easter Egg Hunt at Chadwick Lakes, an event organised by the Energy & Water Agency. The day brought together families, children, and nature enthusiasts for a mix of nature walks and educational activities in one of Malta’s most ecologically important valleys.
Children enjoyed an engaging Easter Egg Hunt, designed as a nature-themed treasure hunt where they searched for clues to win small tokens. Live performances featuring the Għajn Centre mascots, Zoe, Drago, and Osbert the Frog, entertained young visitors throughout the day, with multiple shows held in both Maltese and English.
The event also featured a range of informative stands hosted by various government entities, including Saving Our Blue, The Environment and Resources Authority, Ambjent Malta. WasteServ, Project Green and Water Services Corporation. Furthermore, the Fiddien Box Interpretation Centre was open to the public, offering insights into the valley’s rich biodiversity, history, and water conservation efforts. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the newly rehabilitated trail.
To facilitate attendance, a free shuttle service was provided from the Għajn National Water Conservation Awareness Centre to Chadwick Lakes, ensuring easy access to the event area.
Amanda Zahra, who manages the Energy and Water Agency’s Educational Programme, stated that, “the Agency organises numerous events throughout the year for children, and it’s always satisfying to see them enjoying their visits to Chadwick Lakes and learn about the rich biodiversity of the area.”
Chadwick Lakes remains a flagship example of ecological restoration and public outreach, offering a space where conservation, education, and recreation come together for the benefit of all.
